Where is the course held?Guanajuato is found in the geographic centre of Mexico. It is known as the "Cradle of Mexican Independence" and also home of the internationally renowned Cervantino Festival which takes place every October. There is an international airport called the Aeropuerto del Bajio just 20 minutes out of the city.The city of Guanajuato is the capital of the state of the same name. It is located 370 km (230 miles) northwest of Mexico City, at an elevation of 1,996 metres (6,550 ft) above sea level. The 2005 census population was 70,798 people in the city. Its location makes for an almost perfect climate all year round. Guanajuato is a culturally rich city with many museums including the Diego Rivera Museum and the Mummy Museum; there is the Symphonic Orchestra that performs every week and plenty of restaurants, bars and cafés with live music every night. People from all over the world have made Guanajuato their home and have formed lasting friendships with the warm and loving people of this magical city. INTESOL Mexico CentreEstablished to expose TESOL trainees to a wide variety of ESL environments, the philosophy of Sicard's Language Institute is "Si Se Puede" which loosely translated from Spanish means "Yes You Can". With students of all ages and proficiency levels as well as from diverse socio-economic backgrounds the institute provides the TESOL trainee with plenty of opportunities to observe and teach in a multitude of environments. This includes both its training facilities as well as at various government agencies and other locations throughout the city.The institute conducts its TESOL training courses at two facilities. One facility is at the state's vocational training agency's Guanajuato Campus located next to Guanajuato's largest shopping mall in the neighborhood of Pozuelos and at Escuela Falcon located in Guanajuato's historic downtown district. Course Details4 Week TESOL - 4 Week 150 hour TESOL/TEFL CertificateThis is a 150+ hour course for those who want their first-level qualification in teaching English internationally. The course is directed at both beginners as well as experienced teachers. The course leads to the INTESOL Certificate in TESOL. Flexible TESOL - Online and Onsite TESOL/TEFL Certificate Leading to the same qualifications as the onsite course, the Flexible TESOL/TEFL course has been designed to cater to those who need more flexibility in their study time or those who simply cannot get 4 weeks away for the onsite course. The theoretical side of the course is done via distance/online learning at the trainees' own pace and in the privacy of their own home. Following the theoretical module, there is a 2 week onsite, practical teaching module, which will be completed during the second two weeks of each 4 week course in Guanajuato. AccommodationThere are a number of housing options to choose from. Note that housing costs during the TESOL program are separate from tuition. INTESOL Mexico, in partnership with Escuela Falcon, is happy to assist you in arranging a family-stay, hostel, hotel, or private or shared house or apartment. There is a wide variety of host families with costs as low as $150 per month. There are also nice furnished apartments available between $200 and $400 per month, as well as shared student housing that can be as low as $100 per month. EligibilityApplicants need to have a good educational background. However we welcome applications from those without a formal academic background who are able to communicate clearly in English.
